Our apiary is part of a small working farm in Millfield. Wildflowers and native blossoms growing around the hives change throughout the year.

Those seasonal changes are reflected in every harvest. Colour, aroma, and flavour may differ from one batch to the next, and honey is available for local pickup by enquiry.

Life inside the hive

A strong managed colony can reach this range when weather, queen health, food, and space are favourable.

Usually 1 queen

The queen is the colony's main egg-layer. Her pheromones help hold the colony together, although short overlaps can happen during queen replacement.

Nectar, concentrated

Bees reduce nectar moisture and seal ripe honey under wax cappings for later use.
